      The Commission on African–American Males (CAAM) was created to serve the African–American male population throughout the State of Ohio who are experiencing problems and/or difficulties within the following areas: unemployment, criminal justice, education and health.

The mission of CAAM is to identify and promote, through collaborative partnerships effective public policy models that empower African–American males to achieve in healthy enterprising communities by alleviating inequalities of economics, health, education and criminal justice.

When Cincinnati businessman Steven Reece is asked why he is running for chair of the Ohio Democratic Party, his response is

straightforward.

"The question is not, why? The question is, why not?" Reece said.

  One of Steve Reece's most gratifying political involvements has been serving a Special Advisor to his daughter Alicia's campaign. Alicia is the youngest woman elected (at-large) to city council. In her second term she now serves as Vice-Mayor of Cincinnati.  Vice Mayor Reece received 28,601 votes in 1999;  42,975 in 2001;  and 33,117 votes in 2003, totaling almost 105,000 votes over three elections.
